Affirming Our Commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility: Together, Building a More Inclusive Future

At Connecting Champions, we are committed to fostering a welcoming and supportive environment where all individuals—regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, background, immigration status, or lived experiences—feel safe, respected, and valued.
Our dedication to IDEA goes far beyond words. It is reflected in our daily practices, our mentorship programs, and in the compassionate care we help deliver. Through our initiatives, we are proud to stand with all systemically minoritized, marginalized and underserved populations, such as:
  • LGBTQIA+ individuals
  • Immigrants, refugees, and ELL speakers, regardless of citizenship status
  • Black, Indigenous,  and People of Color (BIPOC), Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI), Latine/x, Middle Eastern, multiracial, and other communities of color
  • Individuals with varying abilities
  • Women and underrepresented groups
Our IDEA commitment includes:
We believe mentorship can be a powerful vehicle for inclusion. That’s why we work to ensure young people are matched with mentors who celebrate and support their full identities—helping them feel seen, empowered, and inspired.  On our end at Connecting Champions we are committed to the following:
  • Ongoing training for our staff and volunteers.
  • Tailored resources for diverse groups-as an example all CC staff completed the 12 hour Pixel Care training which ensures mental health safety and well-being  in virtual online environments.
  • Collaboration with hospital partners to ensure inclusive care.
  • An organized culture grounded in continual learning, listening, and intentional action such as our dedicated AYA Advisory Board.
  • Intentional mentor finding to ensure diversity is reflected in our search process.
At Connecting Champions, we believe everyone is home here, and  that diversity strengthens our community and enriches our shared journey. Our IDEA pledge is not just a statement—it’s a promise we live out daily.
