The Data-Driven Approach

We collect data after every visit on:

With his background in Applied Mathematics from Brown University, our Executive Director developed outcomes reporting software that enables us to continually analyze outcomes and implement evidence-based strategies.

We have a part-time Data Analyst on our team, thanks to a grant from the R.K. Mellon Foundation.

We began collecting anonymous surveys in November 2019. Results from Survey 1 are below. We will be administering four surveys to each family and/or young adult.

Outcomes we create

    1. Improving Quality of Life — Parents say we significantly reduce family distress in the hospital, promote essential child development milestones, and make children less fearful of the hospital & procedures.

    2. Rebuilding Identity & Preparing for Life After Cancer — Young adults say our mentors allow them to envision life after cancer & develop an actionable post-cancer plan, give them confidence with reintegrating into school & the community, prepare them for the workforce, and foster self-purpose during dark times.

    3. Enhancing Care in the Hospital — Hospital staff say we make their jobs easier by giving them a more complete understanding of the patient/family’s needs, identifying stressors, and helping families become more accepting of other hospital resources.
